CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating the cause of a Sunday morning accident that knocked out a traffic light.
Police say the one-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Hickory Grove and WT Harris Boulevard.
One officer told a WBTV photographer that the driver would have had to be traveling at a significant speed to cause the damage. The roof of the vehicle had to be removed to extricate the driver from the car.
Police had to direct traffic around the area, due to the broken traffic light.
No official cause has been released.
Police say the driver was transported to the hospital.
