CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

How much would you pay for a ticket to the Carolina Panthers playoff game on Sunday, January 12? Ticket prices are off the charts, some in the tens of thousands of dollars. WBTV discovered one company is asking $37,000 for box seats.

"I tried to log on to Ticketmaster Wednesday morning to get the tickets and couldn't get in, so I went to the secondary market. Very frustrating," said Panthers fan Preston Rainer.

Diehard Panthers fans like Rainer are still looking for tickets to the game. There's plenty available, but you can't be afraid to open up your wallet.

The phones have been nonstop at Maxim Tickets in South Park, one of Charlotte's largest brokers.

"I would say the Superbowl of 2003 was probably the only comparable scenario," said Greg Carl, a consultant for Maxim.

Carl is not surprised tickets are running for thousands of dollars.

"There are certainly a group of fans out there willing to pay whatever that premium is," he said.

Another Charlotte company, called Ticket Preserve, is offering the lavish owner's box to any paying customer for $37,000!

"If I had $37,000, I'd think it was okay but I don't, so I'm not happy with that either," Rainer said.
