Police looking for two people who crashed into convenience store to steal ATM

Police in Gastonia are asking for the public's help locating two people they say crashed a car into a store to steal the ATM machine.

The incident was reported at the Mountain Stop convenience store on the 300 block of Whitesides Road at 12:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to the police report from the Gastonia Police Department.

Police say two unknown people broke into the store by crashing their vehicle through the wall.

They stole the ATM machine, according to the report. The machine was later recovered but severely damaged.

The two people took $2,000 in cash from the machine.

Police say the two people wanted were wearing masks and dark clothing.
