VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

One resident in Valdosta's Stone Creek neighborhood, where Aubrey Lee Price owned a home, said the news of Price's arrest came as a shock.

"It was pretty shocking to know that someone who lived here in the neighborhood had done stuff like that," said Justin Sigmon, Assistant Pro at the Stone Creek pro shop and Stone Creek resident since 1997.

Price was arrested in Brunswick, Georgia on Monday. He had been on the run from the law for more than a year after being accused of swindling millions of dollars from a Montgomery County bank and 115 of its investors.

Sigmon said he knew some of the details of the story before the news broke that Price had been arrested, but he never met Price.

"I had heard brief excerpts of the story," Sigmon commented, "[but] never met him, never seen him."

Other residents said they, too, knew of Price, but had never met him or had any kind of contact with him.

"You never know these days. You never know who's livin' next to you,"  added Sigmon. "It could be somebody famous, or somebody who's doin' bad things."

Sigmon hopes Price will be punished for what he did.

"He should definitely be punished. A lot of times, people who've committed white collar crimes like that, they're not punished as much as they probably should be," Sigmon said.

Price will make his initial court appearance on January 2nd at 10 a.m. at the federal courthouse in Brunswick.
