Police: Man held in Mississippi on child sex crimes from Albemarle

ALBEMARLE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Albemarle say a man is being held in Mississippi after warrants were issued against him for nearly 25 counts of sex crimes against children.

According to the Albemarle Police Department, 53-year-old James Lonnie Combs was arrested in Mississippi on warrants issued in Albemarle.

Combs is being investigated in a case of sex crimes involving several juveniles, police said.

According to police, Combs has been charged with 22 counts of First Degree Sex Offense with a Child, two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, two counts of Communicating Threats, one count of Maiming without Malice and one count of Crime Against Nature.

Investigators told WBTV they are concerned there may be more victims that have not come forward yet.

The Albemarle Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigations is asking for anyone who may have fallen victim to Combs or knows of any information to contact the Albemarle Police Department at 704-984-9500 and speak with Detective Springer.
