Christmas meals and clothes were given to families on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Boxed Christmas meals and clothes were given to families on Saturday morning according to officials with the East Stonewall A.M.E Zion Church.

The meals and clothes were passed out on Griers Grove road just after 10 a.m.

Volunteers were surprised when an anonymous group donated toys for the children attending the event.

    If approved it would go into effect the next day and residential customers would see an initial hike of 0.3 percent in their average bill. Four years after that time, bills would increase by 1.2 percent.
