Electrolux adding 810 jobs in Charlotte over next four years

Gov. Pat McCrory announced that Electrolux is expanding its company headquarters in Charlotte.

The company plans to create an additional 810 jobs in Charlotte by the end of 2017 and invest $85 million in its Mecklenburg County location. The expansion calls for new construction of a second building adjacent to the existing headquarters.

Features of the new six-floor, 375,000-square-foot building will include LEED certification, solar panels, a roof garden and a courtyard.

The new facility will be home to much of the company's research and development activities as well as marketing, design, engineering, supply chain, finance, IT and executive management.

The company currently employs nearly 1,500 people in North Carolina, including approximately 760 at its current headquarters in Charlotte. The others are employed at a manufacturing facility in Kinston and a national parts distribution center in Asheville.

The Swedish appliance maker moved its headquarters to Charlotte from Augusta, Ga., in 2009 when it received state and local incentives worth $27 million.

Those incentives were granted on the condition that the company would bring 738 jobs by 2015.

Electrolux has already exceeded that goal.
