Cellular service for Verizon customers restored in Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Cellular services for Verizon customers has been restored in Charleston.

According to Verizon's communication outage map, service was interrupted Thursday night in areas of North Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Goose Creek.

"This is the first time I've experienced it since being here," said Jon Townsley, who works in cellular sales at the Mt. Pleasant Verizon store.

"People coming in, and everyone saying the same thing. When I call people, they can't hear me."

According to a representative from Verizon Customer Support, in addition to Charleston customers, the outage spanned into portions of Tennessee.

    Mecklenburg County leaders reached an agreement Tuesday over who will police some of the county’s unincorporated areas. County leaders approved a 5-year extension with CMPD to police some of what they call “extra-territorial jurisdictions” or ETJ’s.
