Escaped inmate captured in Lancaster, girlfriend charged with hiding him

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -

Investigators in Lancaster Co. say they have arrested an escaped inmate and also charged his girlfriend with helping him to avoid capture.

Anthony Vincent, 22, was arrested Monday at an abandoned house on 1st Street in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Lancaster Co. Sheriff's Office.

Deputies had suspicions that Vincent was in the area staying in a vacant building. 

Investigators were checking all of the buildings in the area when they found one that smelled of fresh cigarette smoke. 

Vincent and his girlfriend, Candace Crawford, 26, of Lancaster, were found hiding in the closet. 

Vincent was arrested and charged with Escape, according to the release. 

Crawford was arrested and charged with harboring an escaped convict. 

Both suspects were transported to the Lancaster County Detention Center where they remain incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.
