CMPD: Five suspects charged in home invasion

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's North Division arrested five suspects after a home invasion early Sunday morning.

At about 4:00 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 12600 block of Preservation Pointe Drive in reference to a breaking and entering call for service.

Officers found the victims unharmed. The victims told officers they woke up and saw multiple people inside their home, stealing their property. When the suspects realized the residents were awake, they fled.

One of the victims tried to pursue the suspects, but said a suspect pointed a gun and threatened the victim.

A release from CMPD says, "Thanks to the excellent descriptions given by victims and an alert officer, all five suspects were apprehended within a short period of time of the home invasion."

As the getaway car left the neighborhood, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the following suspects:

Kelvin Martinez, 18
Steven Buchanan, 17
Marcus Allen, 17
Kendrick Barnette, 17
Antoine Harris, 21

All five suspects were arrested and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Each is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling.
