A registered sex offender was arrested in Michigan after investigators say he sexually assaulted a child and registered a fake address with law enforcement.
David Wayne Latty Jr., 36, is charged with four counts of sex offense with a child and one count of failure to register as a sex offender, according to the news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
The initial report of the alleged sex assault was filed on Sept. 11. Detectives interviewed the child.
That when detectives say they identified Latty as a suspect and went to his registered address in Mooresville.
The address turned out to be fake, according to the release.
The US Marshals Office was brought in to assist in finding Latty. He was eventually tracked down in Bearveton, Michigan and returned to Iredell County on Dec. 11.
Latty was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $450,000 bond.
