Richmond Police search for suspect in attempted bank robbery

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Police are looking for the man who attempted to rob a bank in Richmond Wednesday evening.

It happened around 4:55 p.m. at the BB&T at 5707 Patterson Ave. Police say the suspect approached the teller and passed a note demanding money, but he left with nothing.

No weapon was displayed during the attempted robbery. The suspect was last seen heading toward Libbie Avenue.

Police say they believe this man to be the same suspect in robberies at a Gateway Bank at 5300 Patterson Ave. and a SunTrust Bank at 3022 W. Broad St on December 4 and November 21 respectively.

The suspect is about 6'3" tall and in his mid 20s. Anyone with information about this man or the robberies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
