SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

The gun investigators say was possibly used to shoot Marco Kauffman during a botched robbery at Kauffman's western Rowan County home last week has been recovered.

Investigators say they located the .45 Glock in Statesville.

Detectivers say they will conduct test to determine if it is the gun that belonged to Kauffman that was stolen from his home during the robbery.

Kauffman continues to recover at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after being shot in the back of the head.

The most recent update on the Praying for Marco Facebook page was encouraging:

"The dreary clouds have pulled back and bright sunshine glistens on the cold world. The verse about "Joy coming in the morning" was true for us today.

This morning Marco's neurosurgeon was encouraging. He felt like his numbers were within acceptable range, considering his injury and where he's at in the recovery process.

He was also pleased that his pressures are fairly stable today and is not needing as many meds to keep them that way. He feels we are heading in the right direction.

Thank you for being there, and praying with us, again.
We are so grateful!"

So far, three men have charged in the case.

A fourth, Tramel Hart, who is the brother of suspect Khari McClelland, is still on the loose.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff's Office at 704-216-8700.
