HARRISBURG, NC (WBTV) -

Investigators in Cabarrus County are asking for the public's help in locating a suspicious vehicle that was spotted in a Stalling Road neighborhood on Sunday, trying to lure a small girl to get in.

Deputies say a young girl was approached by the black work-style van with tinted windows around 4:30 p.m. in the Heatherstone Subdivision in Harrisburg, according to the news release from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the van, described as a white male with a deep voice, showed the girl a picture of a dog and asked for her help to locate it.

After the girl told the man no, he left the area but returned a few minutes later.

He reportedly told the girl she was pretty and asked her to get in the van with him in order to find the dog.  After the girl told him no again, she went inside and told her parents, who notified our office of the incident.

Responding deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office is seeking additional information from anyone who may have seen this vehicle or has any outside surveillance systems in the Heatherstone Community.

The black van reportedly has a white mark on the driver's side fender.

Anyone having information about this or any crime is encouraged to call our office at 704-920-3057, or Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers at 704-93-CRIME.

You could receive an award of up to $1,000.
