The game was never in doubt as Northwestern would surge out to a 21-0 lead and would cruise to a 62-35 win to cap off an undefeated 15-0 season. The Trojans would claim the SC AAAA Division 2 State Championship in the process.
It was a historic day for the Air Raid offense starting with QB Mason Rudolph who threw for 483 yards and 8 TD. The 8 TD is a state title game record for South Carolina. He also had 38 completions which set a new state record as well. Rudolph also rushed for another TD. What a way to wrap up a career at Northwestern as he will be heading to Oklahoma State next year.
Another big contributor today was WR Dupree Hart. The junior tallied 23 catches for 255 yards and 4 TD. 195 of his 255 came in the first half and included 2 spectacular grabs that ignited the Trojans fans and team.
The defense was not too bad as well as they force 8 Stratford turnovers. They would keep Knights QB Jacob Park in check for most of the day. Park will be heading to Georgia next season.
This team becomes the 2nd Trojans team in program history to finish with a perfect record. The last team was the 2010 State Championship team which is also the last time the Trojans claimed the crown.
