Brother offers $10K reward in case of east Nashville death

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The family of a young woman found dead 10 months ago is hoping a large new reward will bring some answers.

Friends said Livia Rose Smith may have been in a cab shortly before she died, but there's been no arrest and police admit they're at a standstill.

Smith's brother is now offering a $10,000 reward in addition to the $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers.

He said he just wants to know what happened to his sister that night, and he's asking for your help finding those answers.

Livia Rose Smith was last seen the night of Feb. 20 outside a bar in east Nashville's Five Points area.

She was found dead the next morning in the middle of Barclay Drive, just a few houses down from her east Nashville home.

"At this point in time we've exhausted all viable leads in the investigation," said Metro police Detective Matt Filter.

That's why Metro police and Smith's brother need your help.

"Think about where you were that night and what was going on, particularly if you were out in Five Points by 3 Crow and that surrounding area. Just try to remember the night of Feb. 20," said brother Ian Struthers.

Smith was found dead the next morning in the middle of Barclay Drive, just a few houses down from her east Nashville home.

"It was blunt force trauma injuries to the head that killed her, but we don't know what the exact circumstances were that caused her death and we don't know if this is a murder or if this is an accident," Filter said.

Police say Smith was last seen getting into what her friends thought was a cab. She was on her way home, but police say at this time all they know is that she got into a yellow-colored van. Her friends couldn't remember if there were any markings on the car.

"There's no record of a cab being dispatched there. There's nothing on any of the cab drivers' call logs. We've gone through and checked other cab companies," Filter said.

The victim's brother is desperate for answers and hopes the $10,000 reward will encourage information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

If you have any information about what happened to Livia Rose Smith, just call 74-CRIME. You don't have to leave your name.
