Search for missing Lynchburg Teen turns up no new leads

Right now, there are "no" new promising leads in the disappearance of 18 year old Jamisha Gilbert. Gilbert has not been seen since late Friday night, her family's car was found crashed and abandoned in Lynchburg.

Our Roanoke affiliate WSLS found her Facebook page that was under another name and on it she sets ambitious goals for herself- including an Ivy League law degree.

She's now been missing for four days and her family just wants her to come home.

As investigators in Lynchburg called off the search on a cold Virginia night, the concern surrounding Gilbert intensifies.

"Pray that she's all right," said Jamisha's mother Norma Gilbert-Ethridge. "That she comes back home and that she knows she's loved."

Jamisha's mother is among many worried that the circumstances surrounding her daughter are bleak, with no real clue as to where she may be.

"Thus far, nothing has been found," said Lt. Dave Gearheart of the Lynchburg Police Department.

While the physical search is leading to dead ends- we are learning more about Jamisha as a person.

"Law school, Yale University is my number 1 law school," Jamisha said in a video posted on YouTube. "I would love to have a degree from there."

The video shows a young woman poised to take on the world- confident enough that she could earn an Ivy League law degree, but honest enough to know she would have to work hard.

"No matter what life throws at you," she said "..get back up."

It is that type of perseverance that both her family and those searching for her will need as the hours tick by with no sign of the missing girl. It is a situation investigators describe as "suspicious" but aren't saying much more.

The search Tuesday concluded once the sun set. They will start again first thing in the morning.

They are focusing on the wooded area nearby where her car was found crashed. We will keep you updated.
