Charlotte man charged with stealing from man's house while he slept

ALBEMARLE, NC (WBTV) -

Investigators in Stanly County have arrested a man they say broke into a man's house and stole his flat screen TV while he was asleep.

The incident was reported on Nov. 30 at a residence on Misenhiemer Street in Richfield, according to the news release from the Stanly County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to an address on Ski Pond Rd in New London.

On arrival Deputies spoke to the victim who gave information that a subject came into his house while he was sleeping and took items from the house.

After a brief search of the area, a flat screen television from the residence was located at the wood line near the residence.

After information and evidence was gathered at the victim's residence, the information led deputies to a nearby residence.

Deputies found and arrested 26-year-old Richard Corey Mattingly, of Charlotte, and charged him with first degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

He was given secured bond of $30,000 and his court date is Dec. 9.
