4AA Western Regional Final to be played at Mallard Creek

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The match up in the 4AA Western Regional Final was set this past Friday, but now we know where the location of the game will be.

Butler and Mallard Creek will meet at Mallard Creek High School Friday with kickoff set for 7:30.

In the past, big high school football games in Charlotte with the chance of drawing big crowds would be played at Memorial Stadium.  The football stadium at Mallard Creek seats between 4000.  The stadium meets state standards to host a playoff game so it will be at Mallard Creek.

The best advice now is get there early.  Parking starts at 5:30 and the gates open at 6:30.

These 2 programs have met 4 times in the last 3 years with both teams claiming 2 victories.  Mallard Creek won the regular season match up back in August 20-7.  None of the 4 previous games have the stakes that meeting 5 has.  The winner advances to the 4AA State Title game to be played next Saturday at N.C. State.

Butler is the defending 4AA champs and have won 3 of the last 4 championships.  Mallard Creek is making their 3rd straight regional final appearance and have never played for a state football championship in the 7 year history of the school.
