Officials: Section of 321 back open after rockslide

BLOWING ROCK, NC (WBTV) -

Officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation have reopened a section of U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock due a rockslide that occurred early Wednesday morning.

The slide occurred along 321 at Cliff Dwellers in Blowing Rock.

It is considered small and crews cleared it quickly. Crews had to break up a large boulder in order to safely remove it.

The road reopened around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. Traffic was temporarily directed through the town of Blowing Rock on Business 321.

The area is experiencing high winds and blowing snow, so motorists should expect delays and use extra caution traveling through the area.

NCDOT encourages motorists to check conditions before you go.
