NASHVILLE, TN (WAFF) -

Funeral arrangements are pending for an Arab-native musician who was shot and killed Saturday morning in Tennessee.

Singer/songwriter Jerald Wayne Mills was shot outside the Pit and Barrel Bar in Nashville around 5 a.m. Saturday morning. Witnesses told station WSMV that Mills and the bar's owner, 44-year-old Chris Ferrell, got into an argument regarding Mills smoking in a non-designated area of the bar.

Ferrell told police he shot in self-defense.

The Wayne Mills Band's management company, Xaust Media, has set up a donation fund to assist Mills' family. You can find the donation page here (http://bit.ly/18hSpEE).

In addition, Guntersville's SomeWhere on the Lake, where the Wayne Mills Band was due to play Nov. 30, announced they will be holding a celebration of life event on that date, at which donations for the family will also be accepted.

Mills had been living in Nashville pursuing his music career, but was originally from Arab. He was honored with a Guardian Award at the Outlaw Country Music Hall of Fame in October. Mills was 44 years old.
