A Matthews dentist is offering free dental care for 150 adults on a first come, first serve basis Saturday.
Dr. Christopher Phelps of Carolinas Dental Care in Matthews will start registering patients at 6:30 a.m. and will offer his services from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Numbers will be assigned to avoid confusion.
"We know there are many fine people in our area who really need dental care, but right now they just can't afford it," says Dr. Phelps. "That's why we are trying to reach out to as many people as possible. Our message is: just come in, let us help you."
Phelps has assembled a team of over 50 volunteers, 6 Dentists, 20 Dental hygienists and assistants, plus 20 other clinical staff, 10 non-clinical volunteers and volunteers from churches and the community.
Over 200 man hours are needed to make this day happen. $75-$100,000 of free treatment will be donated to our community.
Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH) has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and internationally and has provided more than 60,000 people with an estimated $8 million in free dental care services.
