Freezing Cold Start To The Day

Al Conklin will have your First Alert Weather forecast...with the best information on this bitter cold weather.  And Cam Man Ron Lee is checking around the area...gauging the impact of the cold.  It's certainly not fun for a lot of folks.  But the cold temperatures are great news for area ski slopes...they're all blowing snow right now.  Sugar Mountain Resort opened for skiing yesterday...Cataloochee says it plans on opening today...Appalachian is planning a November 22 opening...and Hawksnest will open this Saturday, weather permitting.  Beech Mountain and Ski Sapphire will open soon as well.

The wildfire at Linville the Pisgah National spreading.  More help is expected to arrive aid the 40 firefighters working to put out the flames.

We now have a name of the person who was shot along Milton Road in Charlotte early Tuesday... 27-year old Jeremy Brown died Wednesday.  Police are looking for the shooter.

Right now, police are searching for the driver who hit a motorcycle rider and kept going.  It happened on Freedom Drive near Little Rock Road in west Charlotte.  The motorcycle rider has serious injuries.

We have the latest on relief efforts following the typhoon that hit the Philippines.

Vice-president Joe Biden will be in Charlotte later today.  He's here to attend a fundraiser.
