Richmond home invasion victim awakes to gun pointed at his head

A South Richmond man says he awoke to a gun pointed at his head. Richmond Police say it is the second home invasions in as many nights.

The first home invasion happened Monday night on the 2200 block of Fairmount Avenue. The second home invasion happened Tuesday night on the 600 block Westover Hills Boulevard. We got a dramatic first-hand account of one of the crimes.

"We came out of our rooms and there was a guy with a flash light in one hand and a gun in the other pointed at our heads," said William Glavin who lives off Fairmount Avenue.

Glavin says the armed robber took cash and cell phones. He says it is the second time he and his roommate have been hit in the past three weeks.

"We are going to move out," said Glavin. "I feel like if it happens again it is going to be even worse or someone is going to get hurt."

The second home invasion happened less than 24 hours earlier on Westover Hills Boulevard.

"It's frightening," said neighbor Ed Sydnor. "There is nothing you can do."

Sydnor says it is the latest in a string of issues on Westover Hills Boulevard.

"I don't feel comfortable being in a situation where you always have to watch your back," said Sydnor.

Glavin knows the feeling first-hand. He says he will never forget that scary experience.

"It was terrifying," said Glavin. "I'm still shaken up."

Police say that stolen vehicle is a silver 1999 Mercury 4-door, license plate WTR-6476. if you have any information give Crime Stoppers a call at 804-780-1000.
