Wind causes power outage as temperatures drop

Posted: Updated:

Forty-mile per hour winds left hundreds of CSRA residents without power.

Grovetown residents experienced a blackout Tuesday evening.

Officials at Georgia Power said that the blackout was caused by the high speed winds that made trees fall on and break power lines. An entire apartment complex in Grovetown went without electricity for hours. Residents at Eagle Pointe apartments said that the winds were so strong and terrifying, they were afraid to leave their homes.

"It was just high strong winds, and the whistling, and then about an hour or two after the wind the power just went out,"said Sherelle Hills, Eagle Pointe resident.

The power company says they have a team on standby in case there are more damages. Wednesday night temperatures are expected to drop to 24 degrees.
