WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The minutes and seconds of a 5k race in downtown Wilmington didn't seem to matter so much when a crowd cheered on one veteran's effort to cross the finish line.
Organizers of the first ever Veterans Day race said they only remembered the man's first name, William. But his determination to finish Saturday's race without his legs likely won't be forgotten.
We're told that organizers are working to contact William to hear his reaction to the crowd's show of support.
