WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hundreds of flags were placed on veterans' graves at the Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington on Saturday.

The Woodman of the World's local chapter donated 800 flags for the cemetery.

Organizers say most veterans in smaller cemeteries do not get the same attention as those in larger national ones.  They want to make sure all veterans are honored.

The Laney High School Junior ROTC cadets marked the graves with an honorary salute and call of names to recognize their services.

One cadet said he enjoyed helping out because his family has military history.

"To me it's very important because I have a lot of family military-wise and I did lose a lot of them," said Tyler Molinar. "I think it's important to me because it's giving them respect for losing their lives for helping our country."
