CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Two registered sex offenders were convicted of failing to notify authorities of address changes this week in Catawba County.

Christopher Ryan Steppe, 31, of Newton, and Michael James Teague, 33, of Hickory, both pled guilty to and were convicted of felony failure to report new address as a convicted sex offender this week in Catawba County Criminal Superior Court.

Steppe was sentenced to no less than 15 months and no more than 27 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

The crime, officials said, occurred in July 2013 in Catawba County when Steppe absconded and failed to notify authorities of his new address. He was convicted in August 2003 of felony indecent liberties with a child in Catawba County and received a probationary sentence.

He was required to register with the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.

Teague was sentenced to no less than 17 months and no more than 30 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

He was convicted in March 2004 of felony second degree sexual offense and felony indecent liberties with a child in Catawba County and was sentenced to 73 to 97 months active time, and was required to register with the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry upon his release.

Teague also failed to notify authorities of his new address.
