CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte have charged a Florida woman with intoxication and attacking a government officer after she became unruly when she was not allowed to board her flight at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The incident was reported on Nov. 1 at 11:14 p.m. outside gate B8 inside the airport terminal.

Tricia Ann Nelson, 27, of Florida, is charged with intoxication and disruptive behavior, resisting a public officer and assault on a government official, according to the report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

US Airways representatives denied Nelson boarding access to her flight after she appeared to be intoxicated. Officers asked Nelson to leave the gate area several times but she refused, according to the report.

When officers tried to take her into custody she resisted arrest and officers were forced to take her to the ground. She kicked one of them in the chest several times, according to the report.

She was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail for processing.
