Concerned parents come forward

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom.

In just a few minutes at 11:00PM, we'll tell you about people who called us after news broke that a man running a Gaston County daycare was charged with molesting kids. These people are coming forward, wondering if their sons or daughters have been victims of abuse. Brigida Mack is talking to these parents to hear what they have to say. And, by the way, we dug a little deeper and found this particular daycare a history of trouble with the state.

Almost two weeks after five people were thrown off the Vortex ride and injured at the state fair, the ride's owner is now charged with two felonies. Authorities believe the ride's safety system was tampered with, causing it to start up as riders were trying to exit. The ride operator and now the owner are both charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Big fire tonight at a manufacturing facility off Starita Road in North Charlotte. Firefighters had to cut a lock and turn off an electrified fence to put out the blaze.

Happy birthday to Charlotte native Billy Graham. He turns 95 tomorrow with a big celebration at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. We'll be there live tomorrow on our 4:00PM newscast.

And, Eric Thomas is looking at a waxing crescent moon next to Venus tonight. Any rain in sight? He'll let us know when you join Eric, Molly Grantham, Delano Little and me for WBTV News at 11:00 tonight!
