Election Day Today; Mall Shooting Latest

It's election day today!

Good morning to you on this Tuesday, 5 November 2013, from the WBTV News morning team... John Carter reporting to you this morning!  Time to turn on your television for the area's BEST morning newscast...and we have a lot to tell you about this morning when you join us from 4:30 to 7:00.

It is election day...and we'll have a preview of the biggest races of the day.  Polls open at 6:30 in North Carolina...7:00 in South Carolina.  It's an off-year election...turnout is expected to be lighter.

A search is on right now for a shooter...after someone opened fire at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, N.J. just before closing last night.  No one was hurt.  The mall will be closed today. Police describe the shooter as dressed in black and wearing what may have been a motorcycle helmet.

Police have arrested three people in connection with a murder of a Lincoln County woman who was found badly hurt, lying in the middle of a road.  54-year-old Sherry Jo Tobeler died early Monday morning.  We'll have more details in a live report.

A man is in a Charlotte hospital...after police say he drove the wrong way on Brookshire Boulevard and struck a car.  Officers say the man had a medical episode.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox, the former Panthers head coach, is recovering in a Charlotte hospital this morning after undergoing aortic heart valve replacement surgery.  We'll have the latest on his condition.
