TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Twenty-four days to go and there is virtually nothing on the shelves.

Salvation Army officials said they are very concerned about this year's community Thanksgiving dinner.

Saint Demetrios Church caught fire back in May. The smoke tainted a lot of food set aside for needy families this Thanksgiving.

The Salvation Army has to start from scratch and is asking for your help.

This year, they need 150 turkeys. So far, they have 17.

They also are in need of canned yams, pre-packaged potatoes, bread, butter and milk.

You can drop these items off at the Salvation Army on 11th Street, near Speedway and Main in midtown.

This feast serves roughly 3,000 people each Thanksgiving.

Despite the fire, the Salvation Army is thankful this year. They will be able to continue their tradition of holding their Thanksgiving meal at Saint Demetrios Church.
