WASHINGTON, DC (RNN) – A congressional committee released documents indicating that the rollout of the troubled website HealthCare.gov got off to a slow start.

Real slow.

Six people managed to successfully enroll in the federal healthcare exchange on Oct. 1, the first day it was available, according to documents released by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The six enrollments occurred with five different insurers, according to notes by committee chairman, Rep. Daniel Issa, a California Republican.

The House committee posted information online that showed by the afternoon of Oct. 2, about 100 individuals had enrolled, which increased to 248 by the next morning.

Neither the documents nor Issa's notes indicated official enrollment totals.

Joanne Peters, a spokeswoman for Health and Human Services, told CNN that the data released by Issa and the committee do not represent a complete accounting of the enrollment.

She said the department will release monthly enrollment statistics, but first must coordinate information from different sources that include paper, online and call centers. The data will be confirmed with insurers and individual states, she said.

HHS cannot provide accurate enrollment totals because of the issues of collecting the information.

"We have always anticipated that the pace of enrollment will increase throughout the enrollment period," Peters said.
