CMPD Detectives with the Homicide/ADW Unit have charged Deon Quintin McDonald and Harold Lindsey, for their involvement in the Halloween night homicide on Rosecroft Drive.
A teenage girl was killed and another person taken to the hospital after a shooting Thursday night in northeast Charlotte, according to officials.
The shooting happened just before 9:30 p.m. on the 6200 block of Rosecroft Drive, which is off of East WT Harris Boulevard.
Medic confirmed to WBTV that one person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries. Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Azjee Rolanda Pierce.
Detectives with the Homicide/ADW Unit canvassed the apartment complex Thursday night to determine whether there were any witnesses to the shooting.
Residents in the apartment complex where the shooting happened told WBTV on Friday that they didn't know Pierce, but they described a harrowing scene.
"There was quite a few people really upset in our neighborhood, because we have never experienced anything like that," said Audrey Bangston. "It makes you feel like you're living in a war zone. An absolute war zone."
After hearing gun fire, two men said they ran out of their separate apartments to find Pierce still conscious in the parking lot, a wound in her chest. They say her companion, a male, was shouting for help, and that he told them he'd been shot in the leg.
Pierce was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say Lindsey turned himself in to Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office late Friday night.
Detectives charged Lindsey with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Detectives say McDonald will be charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Ladd is the lead detective assigned to the case.
