A reported threat onboard a United Airlines flight forced the plane to make an unscheduled landing at Sky Harbor International Airport late Thursday afternoon, Phoenix police said.
Sources within Phoenix Police Department confirm with CBS 5 News that the word "bomb" was written on one of the seats.
Police dogs were sent in to check out the aircraft while the 47 people on board, including four crew members, were evacuated to a secure area for screening and debriefing.
All luggage was removed as well from the The Canadair Regional Jet 700 for inspection.
After an exhaustive search, authorities said they didn't find anything suspicious.
Flight 5573 was en route from San Francisco to San Antonio when it was diverted to Sky Harbor at 4:45 p.m.
The aircraft was isolated on the northwest side of airport, Sky Harbor authorities said.
The jet is operated by Skywest Airlines doing business as United Express.
Airport authorities added the incident did not impact other Phoenix incoming or outgoing flights.
Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department said they did not arrest or detain anyone.
"It's extremely serious," Martos said. "This is those types of incidents that, out of an abundance of caution, we would prefer to go through this process, this tedious process, to ensure there is no viable threat."
