We talk a lot in these segments about getting involved in your community, and now is as good a time as ever if you're concerned about the violence taking place in Wilmington.

The city is starting to hold a series of meetings on how to combat gang violence

300 people have been invited to the first one this Monday evening at 5:30 at council chambers.  There will be more meetings and city leaders want to hear from as many stakeholders as possible.

That's one way to get involved.  Another is to talk to a council member specifically with your concerns.  Make your voice be heard.  Attend regular council meetings.  Offer to volunteer for any groups that come out of this.

This is not the time to sit back and let violence take over our community.  There are some great people in this area and we can overcome this if we work together to make a difference.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at yourturn@wect.com.
