Criminal charges are now pending the outcome of the investigation into a deadly wreck in Huntersville Tuesday morning, according to officials.
The Huntersville Police Department released more information Wednesday about the crash.
Emergency crews responded to the 15900 block of Highway 73, near the intersection of Babe Stillwell Farm Road Tuesday morning. At the scene, crews found a black Nissan Altima and a white Toyota Corolla.
Police say Brian Scott Atkins of Huntersville was driving the Nissan Altima and Trina Osborne of Charlotte was driving the Toyota Corolla. Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Charlotte with serious injuries.
According to Wednesday's press release, a passenger in the Nissan Altima, Nicole P. Wright of Mount Holly, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Huntersville Police Department Traffic Safety Section is currently investigation the crash. Criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
