Firefighters: woman jumped from second story window during condominium fire

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters say a 3 alarm fire broke out at the Devonshire Condominiums in east Charlotte.

The fire broke out about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday at 8022 Tremaine Court which is located just off Albemarle Road according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department rescued a woman who was trapped on the second floor, firefighters say. 

Charlotte Fire says the woman was blocked in by the fire and two CMPD officers convinced her to drop into their arms.

Sixty-four firefighters responded and extinguished the fire according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Members of CFD removed three dogs and returned the animals to their owners.

Firefighters say the American Red Cross assisted the seven people displaced.

CFD is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

CFD estimates the damage is over 300,000 dollars.
