Suspect steals elderly man's credit card to buy gas, cigarettes

CHEVIOT, OH (FOX 19) -

Cheviot Police need your help identifying a man accused of stealing an elderly man's credit card to buy gasoline and cigarettes.

Authorities say the card was stolen from an elderly man on his way home to Applegate Avenue. The suspect used the card on October 6th to make a cigarette purchase and gave his date of birth as October 11, 1966. 

According to police, he then walked to a gas pump at the Kroger Fuel Mart on Ferguson Road, waited for a silver Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix and pumped gas. The suspect then waited for a green or blue Chevrolet Suburban or GMC to pull up and pumped gas into that vehicle as well. 

Police say he was a passenger in a 2000-2002 maroon Jaguar. 

About 30 minutes prior to this, police say the stolen credit card was used at the UDF on Queen City and Wyoming Ave. and the UDF at Queen City and Boudinot Ave. for gasoline purchases. 

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.  All calls are anonymous and callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
