WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – An actor known to many as "Shooter McGavin" in Happy Gilmore was arrested early Wednesday morning in Wilmington in connection to driving while impaired.
According to Sgt. Parks, with NC Highway Patrol, a trooper came into contact with Christopher McDonald near Third St. in Wilmington.
During the course of the investigation, the trooper determined that McDonald was intoxicated.
You can see in the surveillance video McDonald consented to a breathalyzer. He blew a .15, nearly twice the legal driving limit of .08.
According to jail records, McDonald was charged with DWI by NC Highway Patrol. He was booked around 4:30 a.m.
He's expected to make his first court appearance in December.
The actor is also known for his role of Tommy Jefferson in 32 episodes of NBC's Harry's Law from 2011-2012.
McDonald is likely in the Wilmington area to film the movie The Squeeze, which is in pre-production.
