MURFREESBORO, TN (FOX19) -

Two Tri-State residents on their way to the Bonnaroo music festival were killed in June when a tractor-trailer overturned and crashed into multiple other vehicles, including another semi. Now the case is heading in front of a grand jury.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident happened on June 13 as cars were slowing due to heavy traffic from an earlier accident on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County. Truck driver Stacey Colvin was unable to stop in time and overturned, hitting eight other vehicles.

Brandon Wilson, 28, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and a passenger, 25-year-old Deja Morris of West Harrison, Ind. Died in the crash. Five others from Cincinnati and Kentucky were injured. Seven people, including the truck driver, were uninjured.

Colvin, of Campbellsville, Ky., was cited for failure to exercise due care. However, several Tri-state residents wanted to know why he was not facing a more serious charge.

A group of local protestors traveled to Tennessee on Sunday to protest before the DA.

"We're heading to the courthouse in Rutherford county Tennessee to petition the DA to press charges against Stacey Colvin who killed Deja Morris, my daughter, and Brandon Wilson," explains Sue Morris. "He could see clear ahead. There were three over the highway digital read outs warning of delays and slowed traffic. He ignored all of that."

Following the group's trip, the DA has announced that the case will go before a grand jury.
