HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Halloween is a beautiful time of year, especially in South Carolina. The following is a list of events whether you're looking for adult or family fun this Halloween.

DARLINGTON:

Trick-or-Treat in the City of Darlington is set for 5 p.m. thru 9 p.m. on Halloween, October 31.

The Darlington City Police, Fire and Recreation Departments will be passing out treats from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Halloween in front of the police department at 400 Pearl St.

On October 26, the City of Darlington is holding Pumpkins in the Park from 10 a.m. until noon at Williamson park on Spring Street. The event is free, and the public is asked to bring their own carving tools and/or paint. Please register for the event by October 21 by calling 843-398-4030.

Bethea Baptist Fall Festival; October 19 from 2 p.m. thru 4 p.m.

The event is free, and church buses are welcome. There will be pumpkin painting, inflatable's for kids, hayrides, free motorcycle rides, live music. It will be h eld on the Bethea Baptist Horseshoe Courtyards.

FLORENCE:

Florence-Darlington Technical College Hosts Family Halloween Event

From an FDTC news release: The faculty and staff members of Florence-Darlington Technical College invite the community to campus for a family friendly Halloween event, Thursday, October 31st from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.  As part of the ongoing Movie by the Lake Series, the campus will show the film "Hocus Pocus" on a big screen near the fountains on the U.S. 52 side of the campus.

In addition to this free outdoor movie event, the college will offer free trick or treat candy in the 5000 building.  Parents are encouraged to bring their children dressed in costume to visit open classrooms that will be distributing Halloween treats.  All community members are welcome. 

FDTC Vice President, Dr. Shelley Fortin expressed excitement about opening the campus to the community.  "We have so much to offer here and always appreciate an opportunity to showcase our resources.  FDTC belongs to the community and we think this will be a very enjoyable event."  For more information, call Florence-Darlington Technical College at 843-661-8324.  

MYRTLE BEACH:

Halloween Spooktacular; 6 p.m. thru 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24

Kids are invited to the Canal Street Recreation Center to enjoy food, games, treats and fun, then dare to go through the Hall of Terror Haunted House. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Canal Street Recreation Center at 843-918-1475.

Halloween; October 31

The City of Myrtle Beach does not move the date on which Halloween is celebrated. They ask the following safety tips be observed for anyone planning to trick-or-treat:

  • Have a responsible adult accompany children.
  • Only visit homes with porch lights on.
  • Always cross streets at intersections and crosswalks.
  • Wear reflective material on costumes.
  • Use makeup instead of masks to improve vision.
  • Make costumes short enough to avoid trip hazards.
  • Use a flashlight to see and be seen.
  • Inspect children's candy before they eat it.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings.

The event will be held each day from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., and includes a haunted trail, live entertainment with the $10 ticket purchase. Tickets will be sold individually for Spootacular: The Carnival, which includes inflatable's, prizes, food and costume contests. On Halloween night October 31, there will be a magic show and trick-or-treating. Tickets to the magic show, which will be at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., will cost $5.

Wet Willies Costumer Contest & Party; October 26, 9 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach

Celebrate Halloween a few days early with a costume contest and party at Wet Willie's featuring music courtesy of a live DJ beginning at 9 p.m.

Celebrity Square of Terror Adult Halloween Costume Contest & Party; October 26, 7:30 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach

The largest costume contest in South Carolina is back for another year! Enjoy a live DJ in the square starting at 7:30 p.m. with a costume contest later in the night. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled for November 2.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat; October 31, 4:30 p.m. thru 6:30 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach

Calling all ghosts and goblins! Bring the little ones to Broadway at the Beach for trick-or-treating in a fun and safe environment. Participating merchants will be anxiously waiting with little surprises for all those in costume.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH:

Howl-O-Scream; October 26 in McLean Park

Howl-O-Scream will be held from 5 p.m. thru 8 p.m. at McLean park. The event includes hayrides, pumpkin painting, marshmallow roasting, trick-or-treating, a costume fashion show, a magician, local dance group entertainment and more. For weather information and updates, please call the Rec Check Line at 843-280-5570, Ext. 1 by 4 p.m. on October 26. The Rain date for this event is October 27.

SURFSIDE BEACH

MURRELLS INLET/GARDEN CITY:

Huntington's Haunted Halloween; beginning at 6 p.m. October 25

Everyone is invited to this family-friendly event that will sell until 9 p.m. The Atalaya "castle" will be the setting for a frightful fun night of family entertainment. There will be two separate haunted houses, carnival games, arts and crafts stations, spooky cartoons on the big screen in the studio, a "make your own s'mores" station, local ghost stories around the bonfire and more!

Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 6 thru 15. Children 5-and under are free. Please note that some of the special effects used in the haunted house may be too intense for younger children.

Trunk or Treat at Garden City Baptist Church, 501 Pine Avenue, Murrells Inlet

The Garden City Baptist Church is hosting a Halloween Costume Contest (nothing scary) on October 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. they will also have inflatables, hayrides, Conley the Magician, games, cotton candy, tons of candy, a hot dog dinner and much more.

Halle-Boo-Ya Festival: Trunk-or-Treat, Games and more, Oct. 31, 6 to 8pm

GEORGETOWN:

Walking Shadows Ghost Tour; 9 p.m.

The tour will weave through historic Georgetown, and raise funds for the Children's Organ Transplant Association.  The tour will last approximately 90 minutes and stop in front of some of the area's many reputedly haunted homes. Tickets are $10, but all additional donations are welcome. Reservations are required because space is limited. All of the profits will go to transplant-related expenses.

HARTSVILLE:

Treats in the Streets and Scream on the Green

Downtown Hartsville will be the site of a full evening of Halloween fun this Friday, Oct. 25 including trick-or-treating followed by a free movie showing of "Ghostbusters" in Burry Park.
