A community is mourning after the death of an 18-year-old who was killed while serving as a missionary in California.

Officials said Andrew Page, 18, was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle during his two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California.

Page passed away Thursday evening officials stated.

"Andrew was known for being the kind of person who was friends with everyone," Officials said.

Page graduated from Independence High School in June of 2013 and played the tenor saxophone in the Marching Band.

Page was a member of ROTC, the National Honor Society, and the Boy Scouts of America according to officials.

Andrew sent his family an email the day before he died saying he felt the love around him and he loves them from the bottom of his heart.

Officials said Page had been excited about serving a mission since he was eight years old.

Page's funeral will be on October 19th at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Rocky River Road.
