Man arrested after investigators trace stolen firearm to shootout with police

ALBEMARLE, NC (WBTV) -

A man that was involved in a shootout with police in Charlotte was arrested in Stanley County last week.

Ramar Dion Crump, 23, of Huntsville, Alabama, is charged with larceny of a firearm, according to a news release from the Stanley County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the firearm was reported stolen and seized by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Sept. 29 following a vehicle chase where Crump and two other men shot at police, according to the release.

In addition to the stolen firearm being recovered three other firearms were recovered from the suspect's vehicle. W

Crump is currently being held in custody in the Mecklenburg County Jail under secured bonds by both Stanly County Sheriff's Office and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

Stolen property recovered during the investigation consisted of a Mossberg .22cal rifle on an AR-15 type frame.

The seized firearm as well as the three others recovered is being held as evidence by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as a result of their additional investigation.
