Sheriff's Office goes blue for Dalton Edwards

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - On Wednesday, everybody in Iredell-Statesville Schools and around Iredell County is encouraged to wear light blue as a show of support and solidarity for Dalton Edwards.

Edwards, a football and soccer player at West Iredell, was diagnosed with liver cancer Friday. He was in Charlotte on Tuesday at Carolinas Medical Center for a biopsy. Results were expected Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Light blue is his favorite color.

Light blue T-shirts that bear a cross with Edwards' initials, a football, a soccer ball, his numbers for both teams and "West Iredell Warriors" encasing all of it were sold at the school on Tuesday. It took only 15 minutes to sell 350 shirts.

Another 400 T-shirts will be available on Thursday.

They cost $10 and are for sale in the West Iredell main office and the weight room, and people can purchase them during home football and soccer games.

All proceeds from the sale of T-shirts go to the Edwards family.

Orders can be placed online with the Warrior Goal Club and payments can be made through PayPal.
