CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Ok, I admit. I haven't worked out in a week. There -- I said it. It's out there. It's no longer just rolling around in my head like one big, never-ending, guilt trip.
I'm sure many of you out there can relate. That's why I've chosen to be so transparent about my (ongoing) journey to a healthy lifestyle.
Oh, and it's not just that I've been MIA with the exercising. Oh, no -- I've also had wine. During the week. And chocolate. Gasp!
Thank God for the scale fairies who have somehow kept my inactivity (plus, the wine and chocolate) from showing up on the scale! But I'm not foolish enough to think those fairies are gonna stick around. As my Dad was fond of saying quite often the summer before I went off to college, "Recess is just about over!"
So, I can do one of two things: continue with this pity party and wallow in my total lack of wanting to exercise (opting instead to catch up on DVR, log couch time and just about anything BUT work out). OR -- I can tuck in my skirt, buck up and get back out there!
It won't be easy. I mean I'm asking for some serious soreness after today's session with my trainer is over. Plus, detoxing from a week of wine and chocolate is never fun(crabbiness and the shakes on deck). But it has to be done. NO more slacking!
You see, that's the thing about this whole change-your-life goal. It. doesn't. STOP. Keyword: LIFESTYLE. Which means yes, at times you'll fall off the wagon with your exercising and you'll certainly go off the reservation (helllooo Cupcake's Red Velvet wine and that AWESOME Godiva dark chocolate).
BUT-- the beauty of this race: you can ALWAYS get back in it. Because, it never ends. To quote my favorite Lil Wayne lyric: "every finish line is the beginning of a new race." (hey, don't knock Weezy's wisdom!)
And since I already ran my first 10K two weekends ago (I'm looking at you Black Girls Run!), it's time to lace up my sneaks -- and get back out there!
