Ex-Covington finance director sent to jail

INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) -

Former Covington Finance Director Bob Due was removed from house arrest Wednesday and taken to jail.

Due, 63, has been accused of misappropriation of city funds, which could be in excess of $300,000, according to Covington City Manager Larry Klein.

He's been hospitalized in two separate incidents after reportedly trying to take his own life, once for a self-inflicted stab wound earlier this month.

Due was in a mental health facility before being placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring.

He pleaded not guilty in August to theft by unlawful taking of over $10,000, unlawful access to a computer, official misconduct and criminal possession of forged instruments.

He's now being held on a $500,000 bond. If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison.
