Iredell Co. teen charged in rape investigation

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A Troutman teen is in jail and charged with rape after an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Dakota Shane Chambers, 17, of Troutman, is charged with first degree statutory rape and two counts of first degree statutory sex offense, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say they interviewed the victim and several family members before making the arrest.

Chambers was arrested on Friday. Bail was set at $250,000.

Audrey Lynn Chambers, 37, of Troutman, was also arrested and charged with one count of felony child abuse.

Her bail was set at $35,000.
