LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

An initial court appearance was scheduled Tuesday for a Las Vegas man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend by repeatedly hitting her on the head with a beer mug.

Dana Baker, 61, was arrested Friday in connection to the slaying that occurred the day before.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to a mobile home park in the 3400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North in reference to a woman bleeding from the head on Sept. 19. There, police found an injured woman, who was later identified as Jennifer Evanson.

Evanson died at the scene, the report said. The Clark County coroner's office ruled Evanson died from multiple blows to the head as a result of a homicide, according to the report.

Detectives, in the report, turned their attention to Baker after they learned he had been living with the victim. Police noted he was not at the scene by the time officers arrived.

Baker was found just a mile away from the mobile home park, residing in a tent pitched in a desert area, police said in the report.

There, police reported apparent blood on Baker's shorts and socks as well as tennis shoes.

In an interview, Baker, in the report, said he and Evanson were dating for more than three months. He subsequently moved into her motor home.

Baker told police a fight erupted between the two over her sleeping with other men during the dating relationship, the report said.

Baker described, in the report, how the argument escalated to physicality. He told police he pulled her out of bed by the hair.

Baker, as he stated in the report, got more upset over her mentioning the infidelity, which prompted him to grab a heavy beer mug and strike her in the head with it. Baker recalled, in the report, hitting her seven to eight times.

He further said, in the report, he left her lying on the floor for about two hours before returning. She asked him to call 911 by then, he was stated saying in the report.

Baker was booked into Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder with a deadly weapon.

According to the CCDC inmate database, the district attorney is expected to file charges during Baker's initial hearing. The appearance is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court.
