Hello. It's Monday, September 23. This is Christine Nelson sending you this email from my desk in the WBTV Newsroom. Here is a look at the stories making headlines on WBTV News This Morning. We're on the air and streaming live until 7 a.m. at WBTV.com/live.
DEVELOPING: The mall attack continues in Kenya. According to the AP, gunfire can still be heard at the upscale mall in Nairobi. The attack happened over the weekend when a known terrorist group stormed the mall from two sides with grenades and firing at civilians. We have an update on the civilians who were being held hostage and whether they have been freed. Also, a North Carolina native was in that Kenyan mall when the attack happened. She tells WBTV what she heard and saw.
NEW overnight: A McDonald's employee is attacked at his job. It happened at the location near Carowinds. WBTV's Kristen Hampton is live with the details on what happened and clues police are looking for.
Also, does your child love to go to sleepovers? It's often a fun time for kiddos but for children with a chronic illness managing their sickness could be a challenge if they don't plan ahead. WBTV's Astrid Martinez has your sleepover guide to help you and your child have a stress-free experience.
Of course we have your most reliable weather and traffic updates. Meteorologist Al Conklin and Tonya Rivens have you covered. And tune in to say hi to our Dedrick Russell filling in for the vacationing John Carter.
See you on the air!
